A woman is facing a DUI charge after state troopers say she drove through a guardrail and fence and into a lake in Seminole County.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Maitland Avenue and Lake Shore Drive in Altamonte Springs.

Florida Highway Patrol said 26-year-old Qualana Pickard, identified by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, was driving south on Maitland Avenue when she ran off the road.

Pickard hit a guardrail and fence before entering the lake. She was able to swim to safety and went to the hospital with minor injuries, FHP said.

Deputies later arrested Pickard, as her vehicle was removed from the water.

She was booked into the Seminole County Jail but later released on bond.
