A Palm Coast woman was arrested over the weekend after she kicked a deputy during a “temper tantrum,” according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, deputies said the incident happened on Saturday evening, when they responded to a report of a “domestic disturbance” in the city’s B-section.

Deputies determined the woman — identified as Julia Jones, 40 — was the primary aggressor and took her into custody, the FCSO noted.

That’s when investigators say things got messy.

“While being placed under arrest, Jones became combative and uncooperative with deputies, which required deputies to lift her off her feet and carry her to a patrol vehicle,” the release reads. “As deputies were doing so, Jones began screaming and kicking her feet, striking a deputy in the chest.”

While being taken to jail, she lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Now, Jones faces charges of domestic battery on a person over 65 years of age, and battery on a law enforcement officer. She was released on bond of $5,000.

“Deputies carry this woman kicking and screaming to jail,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “While she was throwing her tantrum, she kicked a deputy in the chest and was arrested for another felony. If you act like a child with a temper tantrum and resist deputies who are just doing their jobs, you will go to jail every time with more charges.”

Deputies also said that Jones was arrested over battery on a law enforcement officer in 2024, during an incident in which she allegedly “berated and spit on deputies” who were responding to a report that she was highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance.

While the battery charge wasn’t prosecuted, she was still found guilty of disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence, the FCSO explained. According to the release, she was placed on probation, which she was allowed to end early.
