Tom Cruise is heading back to the track.
The Hollywood superstar announced a sequel to the 1990 racing classic “Days of Thunder” during a star-studded appearance at the Daytona International Speedway, the same venue where the original film was shot in Daytona Beach.
Cruise posted a video and photos to his social media platforms showing him and Anne Hathaway posing alongside a green-and-yellow stock car — a nod to the iconic No. 51 Mello Yello color scheme that defined the original film.
Cruise returns as driver Cole Trickle, and Hathaway will co-star.
Jonathan Levine is set to direct, with Cruise producing alongside Hollywood heavyweight Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.
The announcement dropped during the same weekend as the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona — one of the most storied venues in motorsports and a location deeply tied to the “Days of Thunder” legacy.
Daytona International Speedway also served as a filming location for another high-profile racing film, “F1″.
An official title for the sequel has not yet been announced. The film is expected to hit theaters in summer 2028.
