A 22-year-old motorcyclist from Ormond Beach was killed after rear-ending a semi-truck on Interstate 4 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred before 4 a.m. Sunday near mile marker 122 on I-4, east of State Road 44.

According to an FHP report, a 2024 Honda CBR500R was traveling eastbound in the inside lane when a 2025 semi-truck ahead of it came to a stop due to a roadblock caused by a separate crash. The motorcyclist failed to stop and struck the rear trailer of the semi-truck.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driver, a 61-year-old man from Miami, was not injured and remained on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
