A guest walking from Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa caught a raccoon swiping food from a trash can in broad daylight.
Raccoon in Walt Disney World Trash Can

Here in the Hub (hereinthehub) posted the following video on Instagram. It shows a raccoon hanging out of the opening of a Grand Floridian-branded trash can, happily licking its paws. As the photographer gets closer, the raccoon jumps down, then runs into the trees on the other side of the pathway. Here in the Hub added the text, “Bro was munching on those deluxe quick service leftovers”.
Commenter antonella_m_addeo referenced Pocahontas’ raccoon sidekick, writing, “An impromptu Meeko meet and greet!”
Or maybe the animal was Rocket Raccoon out of uniform.
Wild animals, including vermin like rodents and bugs, are seen around Walt Disney World relatively frequently. However, it’s rare to see a nocturnal raccoon digging through the trash in broad daylight.
If you do see a wild animal at Walt Disney World, it’s best to keep a safe distance until the animal runs away. If the animal appears to be in distress or is in a dangerous area, inform the nearest Cast Member.
In July 2023, squirrels invaded Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom twice.
