An Osceola County judge on Thursday ruled that Ahmad Bojeh is mentally competent to stand trial for the triple murder of three Ohio tourists.

Two court-appointed psychiatrists have found Bojeh competent to proceed, despite his claims of mental illness. Court records show both doctors concluded in June that Bojeh was exaggerating or fabricating psychiatric symptoms. One psychiatrist wrote that Bojeh, who reported hearing voices, appeared to be presenting himself as incompetent to avoid prosecution.

Bojeh, who lived next door to the rental property, is accused of shooting three men on Jan. 17. The victims were visitors from Ohio attending a local car show.

In 2022, Bojeh stood trial for attempted murder after allegedly shooting at a person and at random vehicles at a Kissimmee gas station. He was acquitted by reason of insanity and barred from owning a gun.

The Osceola County Sheriff previously called Bojeh a threat to his neighborhood, saying deputies had responded to his home 41 times.

A status hearing in the case is set for Nov. 17.

The families of the victims, Robert Kraft, Douglas Kraft and James Puchan, issued the following statement:

First, we are immensely grateful for all the hard work by ASA Peter Donnelly and his entire team. This is a just result and we can only hope that the assailant and his attorneys will now minimize our suffering, acknowledge guilt, and bring an expedient end to the criminal aspect of this tragedy.

But as we’ve always said, this was entirely preventable and Justice extends to Tallahassee and the civil courtroom.
