A rescued Florida manatee is settling into her new home at Walt Disney World, and guests at EPCOT’s The Seas with Nemo & Friends can already see her swimming alongside two fellow manatees as she continues her road to recovery.
Calfuccino’s journey began in May 2025, when she and her mother, Venti, were rescued near Naples. Venti had suffered an injury, yet still managed to care for her calf despite her own condition.
After the rescue, Calfuccino was transferred to ZooTampa for critical care — and the results have been remarkable. She has grown from approximately 156 pounds at the time of rescue to more than 545 pounds today.
Calfuccino’s new home at EPCOT is more than just a temporary stop. Disney’s animal care team will continue her rehabilitation over the coming months, preparing her for an eventual return to the wild. She is currently sharing her habitat with Cider and Tanimura.
Her arrival is part of Disney’s ongoing collaboration with the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service — a broader effort to support manatee recovery efforts across Florida.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends has quietly become one of Florida’s most meaningful manatee rehabilitation centers. Disney has successfully rehabilitated and released 30 manatees back into the wild through its partnership with the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The program provides short-term rehabilitation and specialized care for manatees recovering from illness, injury, or other challenges — all with the goal of returning them to the wild.
