Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro shared some new photos of upcoming attractions coming soon to Walt Disney World Resort: Tropical Americas, Monstropolis, and Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Resort. We even got a ground-level look at the temple for the Indiana Jones attraction.
Behind-the-Scenes Photos

D’Amaro shared photos from the interior and exterior of Lakeshore Lodge, with Walt Disney Imagineers working hard on the property. The resort is scheduled to open on July 1, 2027.
In the photo seen on the right above, two members are signing their names into the concrete of what seemingly looks like one of the seating areas.

Lakeshore Lodge will celebrate nature through the work of Disney artists and storytellers, drawing inspiration from Walt Disney’s lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. It highlights the forests of Bambi, the colorful winds of Pocahontas, and the glacial landscapes of Brother Bear as influences incorporated throughout the resort.
Check out a model of the resort, now on display in the Walt Disney Presents theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

D’Amaro also shared a photo of some thematic detailing for one of the projects. The photo above is a zoomed-in shot of a wooden pillar, which has decorative carving.
The central motif is a layered flower with curved petals and four leaf patterns in the background.

In other photos, D’Amaro shared some photos of the multi-colored Mayan temple that will be part of the new attraction, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. The temple, which is placed in front of the former DINOSAUR building at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is set to open in 2027.
The exterior is painted turquoise, burgundy, and yellow, and there is still scaffolding surrounding the building.

While on the ride, you’ll rendezvous with Dr. Jones, who is in the midst of exploring this mysterious temple near a once water-filled underground cave, called a cenote. Local legend says the passageway leads directly to the Maya Underworld, and is protected by a serpentine creature: the Tsukán.
Tropical Americas is transforming the former DinoLand U.S.A. into Pueblo Esperanza, a fictional community inspired by the landscapes, architecture, and cultures of Central and South America.

The final project D’Amaro showed was a photo of a crew member holding a tablet with a picture of the concept art for Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike, which will be located at the Glob Theater in Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The photo showcases characters including Mike, Sulley, and several monsters from Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University before a theater audience surrounded by musical accompaniments and flying door portals.

Monstropolis has taken over the former Muppets Courtyard, along with a new coaster show building being added as an expansion to the park in what was formerly a backstage Cast Member parking lot. The door coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster and first vertical lift coaster.
Monstropolis will open in phases, starting with most of the land in 2027 and the coaster at a later date.

Excited for What’s to Come
In the caption of the post, D’Amaro said there is currently an “incredible energy” at Walt Disney World, and guests can “feel it the second you pass through the gates.”
“I got to walk Monstropolis, Tropical Americas and Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge with our Imagineers, hear what they’re dreaming up, and watch it become real. The ideas, the details and the stories are all coming together, and seeing it in person makes me even more excited for what’s ahead.
Thanks to the incredible team @waltdisneyimagineering – their imagination & creativity knows no limits.
I can’t wait for you to experience it all.“
