A new report by WalletHub has ranked the best — and worst — places to drive in America.
The rankings compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities across a variety of measures, including:
- Cost of ownership and maintenance
- Traffic and infrastructure
- Safety
- Access to vehicles and maintenance
“Living in one of the best cities to drive in can make owning and maintaining a car much cheaper,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo. “However, costs aren’t the only factors that matter; the best cities for drivers also minimize commute times and traffic congestion, have accident rates well below the national average and keep their roads in good condition.”
Nationally, the top-ranked cities turned out to be Scottsdale, Arizona (No. 1); Boise, Idaho (No. 2); and Fort Wayne, Indiana (No. 3).
But Florida wasn’t left out of the top 10; Jacksonville managed to eke its way into the No. 9 slot, scoring high for ownership and maintenance costs. Orlando also placed fairly high, coming in at No. 11.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Hialeah ranked as the worst Florida city to drive in, placing all the way down at No. 58.
The full list of Florida cities is as follows:
