After a 10-year-old dog was thrown into a dumpster earlier this year — leading to its death — its owner has now been sentenced to 20 days in jail, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release, deputies said the incident happened back in March, when the dog, Max, was found injured in a dumpster at 1076 Cypress Pkwy.
According to investigators, the owner — identified as 80-year-old Victor Manuel Carrion-Flores — was spotted on surveillance footage disposing of Max in the dumpster.

Per the OCSO, an autopsy revealed that Max had suffered blunt force trauma.
“Due to the severity of the skull fracture, Max had to be euthanized, and his owner was arrested for third-degree aggravated animal cruelty,” the release reads.
On Sept. 30, Carrion-Flores pled guilty to the felony charge, as well as a misdemeanor charge of abandoning an animal to die, deputies announced.
The sheriff’s office said that Carrion-Flores was sentenced to the following:
- 20 days in jail
- 24 months of probation
- No possession of any animals
- 8-hour animal cruelty prevention class
- FDLE animal cruelty registry
- Restitution to Osceola County Animal Services and the OSCO
