Ocala police have identified the man killed in a Sunday afternoon shooting and are asking the public for help as the investigation continues.

The victim has been identified as Tedarrium Deas, 23. He was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded around 2 p.m. to a shooting in the 1100 block of NW 12th Avenue.

Two other men were also wounded in the shooting. An 18-year-old found at the scene was hospitalized with serious injuries. A third victim, a 31-year-old man, later arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds and is also being treated for serious injuries.

“It’s a very terrible situation,” said Jeff Walczak with the Ocala Police Department. “Unfortunately, we’re dealing with someone who has died, and our hearts go out to the family of that victim, and we’re going to do everything we can to investigate and try to understand what happened here with anybody involved.”

Officers also recovered a rifle a short distance from the scene, police said.

Minutes after the shooting, a three-vehicle crash was reported at the intersection of SW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and State Road 200. Investigators believe people involved in the shooting may also have been involved in the crash. Police released video showing the aftermath of the wreck and the damage left behind. It is unclear how many people from the crash were taken to a hospital or the extent of their injuries.

“This is an isolated incident that our detectives are working right now,” Walczak said.

Investigators said there is no ongoing threat to the public. Police have not announced any arrests or identified a person of interest, and have not released details about what may have led to the shooting.
