Health First has notified 214 associates that their positions are being eliminated, according to a release issued on Wednesday.

Health First officials said the affected positions represent about 2% of Health First’s 10,350 associates. No hospitals or emergency departments are closing.

Furthermore, most of the eliminated jobs are in administrative, management and clerical support roles. Health First said it will continue recruiting for clinical and other essential positions.

Several programs and services are also changing:

• The Hospital at Home program is ending, although current patients will continue receiving care until their treatment is complete.
• The Viera location of the Integrated Care Program is closing, with Viera patients transferring to the Gateway team.
• Health First Medical Group is also ending its standalone comprehensive health assessment program. The assessments will continue as part of annual wellness visits with patients’ primary care providers.

Patients affected by the program changes are being contacted directly about next steps.

Health First said each impacted associate will receive a 60-day paid notice period, with full pay and benefits continuing during that time. The health system is also providing job-search assistance and helping associates explore other positions within the organization.

“We recognize the impact these decisions have on our associates, their families, and their colleagues,” Health First said.

The organization said its mission remains unchanged and that it will continue providing safe, high-quality care while investing in the services and facilities needed by the community.
