This week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis highlighted the state’s latest sales tax holiday, encouraging residents to take advantage of the opportunity.
On Monday, DeSantis appeared in Lakeland to discuss the holiday — dubbed the “Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday” — which has returned for a second year.
“Since I became governor, we have enacted billions of dollars in tax cuts. This year’s hunting, fishing and camping sales tax holiday —ongoing through Dec. 31 — will provide Floridians with even more tax relief,” DeSantis said. “We are proud to protect Floridians’ Second Amendment rights while helping hunters, anglers, and sportsmen keep more of their hard-earned money.”

Aside from firearms, the tax holiday covers several other items that are used in a variety of other outdoor activities.
State officials said this year’s tax holiday doubled the eligible price thresholds for fishing bait and tackle, while also expanding tax relief for firearm accessories through a separate sales tax exemption that includes magazines, range bags, barrels, and more.
