Facing a decline in ridership, LYNX is asking for public feedback on a series of proposed bus service changes set to take effect before the end of the year.

At a meeting on Thursday, the LYNX Board of Directors is being asked to authorize the public participation process for the proposals.

Among the major route changes are along Link 6 Dixie Belle Dr./Bumby Ave., where service would be discontinued between Aloma Ave. and the Colonial Plaza Superstop.

There would also be a change on Link 407 Kissimmee/Orlando Int’l Airport to discontinue service on State Road 417, extend the route into Meadow Woods SunRail Station, and reduce the number of trips to Lake None to twice per day.

The proposals also call for Link 701 Orange Technical College Shuttle to be discontinued and Saturday service would be discontinued on Link 1 Winter Park/Eatonville/Maitland.

LYNX has also proposed nearly two dozen minor route changes or schedule adjustments.

The service changes are being proposed less than a year after most LYNX routes ended in Seminole County due to high costs and low ridership.

Seminole County has transitioned to its on-demand SCOUT public transit, but riders like Ronald Vogt have had problems with the service.

“I tried SCOUT one time. One and done,” Vogt said. “I would never try them again. I was late to an appointment because of them.”

LYNX hasn’t named a reason for the route adjustments, although the changes are being proposed as ridership has declined since last year.

Records show a 6.2% decrease in riders from May 2025 to May 2026. From June 2025 to June 2026, total ridership declined by 9.5%.

A public hearing/workshop on the route change proposals is tentatively set for Sept. 29 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at LYNX Central Station.

The LYNX Board of Directors is expected to authorize public participation during a meeting on Thursday at 1 p.m.
