Space Mountain Earthrise in Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland, which is under construction and set to open in 2027, is lit up.

Exterior purple lights tracing the edges and spires of Space Mountain Earthrise were spotted at for the first time since the old version closed in July 2024.

Space Mountain Earthrise is the staple attraction of Tomorrowland, and the version coming soon will take guests on a journey through outer space. The attraction will also feature new architecture, a newly developed ride system, and innovative storytelling. All of these new show elements will take guests on an even more thrilling and captivating journey through outer space.

Construction for the attraction began in preparing the construction site in 2022 with a groundbreaking ceremony to follow in 2023.

Updates to Space Mountain Earthrise include the creation of a new plaza located in the heart of Tomorrowland. This new plaza will be a symbolic portrayal of mankind and nature existing in harmony, connecting the Tomorrowland of the past and future.

During the 2026 D23 Experiences showcase, Walt Disney Imagineering shared a flyover and a closer look at some of the scenes under construction around Tomorrowland Plaza and within Space Mountain Earthrise. Check out the full video on YouTube:
