Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside has officially debuted a complete redesign of its beloved Royal Guest Rooms, replacing the classic ornate furnishings with a newly remodeled and very much changed Royal Guest Room.

The rooms are certainly more Louisiana New Orleans-themed than the previous rooms.
There is a new piece of Tiana art on the wall. It has the appearance of stained glass but it is not.
A letter embedded into the table from Tiana reads: “Dear friends, I wished on the Evening Star that you would visit, and here you. Naveen and I are pleased as punched to have you stay with us; some say a person’s home is their castle and for us that couldn’t be truer. But it’s the happy memories that make our house a home, like the time I spent with Mama and Daddy making gumbo when I was a little girl. So hop to it and make yourself at home. All the love, Princess Tiana.” ” As we say in New Orleans, y’all pass a good time. – Naveen”
The chairs are much more standard than the previous regal chairs. The curtains have a pattern very reminiscent of the rest of the hotel.
A ceiling fan and light hang above the beds, while the floor looks of hardwood. One improvement over what was here previously is the storage available under each bed. There is a detailed decorative flat molding where the wall meets the ceiling, comprised of Tiana and Naveen’s mark, Ray the firefly, crowns, lilies, and lily pads.
The very ornate headboards and decor above have been removed. The new Bayu art does not have the fireworks or the other princesses. Near the end table, you will find modern connections: two standard outlets, a USB, and a USB-C.
There is a cute little hidden detail in the lampshade when it is illuminated. There also used to be a Cinderella carriage coat rack, and now there are just three hooks on a board.
TV is above the counter, with drawers below. The refrigerator is behind decorated mesh metal so you can see what is inside. There is a safe and a cubby for storage. A Cuisinart coffee maker sits on the counter. In the corner section above, there are some family photos on lily and crown-patterned wallpaper.
The sliding door to the vanity and bathroom has a decorative pattern as well; however, beyond the door, this area of the room is very similar to all the other rooms at the resort. The tile on the floor and the vanity are the exact same as in the other rooms.
The one big difference is the very cool mirror, which has a nice detail with Tiana and Neeven’s initials in gold.
To the side of the vanity, there is a full-length mirror, closet, luggage stand, extra pillows, blankets, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and wastebasket.
In the shower area, we have lost all charm. There used to be a Little Mermaid shower curtain; now there is a frosted glass sliding door. Shampoo, body wash, and conditioner are mounted on the wall.
The most exciting feature of the room is the illuminated art above the headboards. There is a setting where you can simply illuminate the art above the headboards but there is also a mode where a blacklight from the rear of the art turns the scene into night.
This is a spectacular effect and very pretty.
Compared to a lot of room remodels across property, this room has a lot of details and story; it just does not have the level of storytelling and details compared to the room it directly replaced.
