Gas prices were seen back up over the $4 mark in Orlando on Tuesday after a Labor Day weekend that saw prices hover around $3.90 a gallon.

News 6 spotted a Wawa station with $4.19 a gallon for regular unleaded, $5.89 a gallon for diesel.

AAA recorded the average price in Orlando on Tuesday as $3.834 a gallon for regular, $5.6706 for diesel.

It’s not the highest price Orlando drivers have paid in the last five years. In June of 2022, we saw gas prices as high as $4.8901 a gallon, just months after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war.

After the conflict in Iran began earlier this year, average gas prices hit $4.436 a gallon in Orlando at one point.

AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins says gas prices tend to drop after Labor Day as demand falls, but continued conflict in the Middle East is keeping prices high.

“There doesn’t really seem to be a clear signal of strong relief in sight,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins says the peak of the price cycle is higher following a jump in oil prices, which are now at a six-week high.

The price of diesel fuel, used for trucks, buses, construction equipment and more, hit an all-time high nationally of $5.90 per gallon on Tuesday, up more than $2 per gallon since last year.
